Anthony Garza, 87, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2016 in Houston, Texas. He was born May 9, 1929 to Pablo and Delores Garza in Alief, Texas. One of twelve children, he grew up in Houston and put himself through the prestigious St. Thomas High School.

After high school, in 1948 he entered the Navy and served as a Fire Control Technician, Second Class on the USS Hamul during the Korean War. He wedded Bertha Schmidt on February 9, 1953 shortly after his discharge from the service. They were married for almost 64 years at the time of his passing. After his wedding, he was hired by the Randolph Company. With a keen technical mind, he rose through the ranks and became the supervisor of the Rubber Division. He worked for the company for 41 years and retired at age 65. In his later years he enjoyed spending time with his family, walking around the Bellaire neighborhood where he and Bertha lived, tinkering with his van, and spoiling their two dogs.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Ted, Henry, Paul, Louis, Gilbert, Mary, Irene, Maggie, Margaret, and a sister who died in infancy. He is survived by his sister, Sally, his beloved wife Bertha; his children Michael and wife Christi, Denise and husband Dan, William, Annette and Yvonne; his grandchildren Aaron and wife Jessica, Patrick and wife Nikole, Danielle and husband James, Christine and husband Jason, Alexander, Jacqueline, Gabrielle, Olivia and Nina; and one great-grandchild, Violet.
